11th Annual Scientific Conference and AGM 2026
The Midwives Association of Kenya (MAK) invites midwives, healthcare professionals, policymakers, researchers, educators, development partners and other stakeholders to the 11th Annual Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM), taking place from 23–25 September 2026 in Nairobi.
Under the theme “Midwives Access: Advancing Quality, Rights, and Innovation,” the conference provides a national platform for professional learning, scientific exchange, networking and collaboration aimed at strengthening midwifery and improving maternal, newborn, sexual and reproductive health outcomes in Kenya.
The conference will bring together approximately 500–600 participants to share current evidence, research findings, innovations, practical experiences and emerging approaches in midwifery and health systems. It will also create opportunities for dialogue among frontline health workers, government, policymakers, researchers, training institutions, development partners and professional associations.Key conference themes
1. Midwifery Partnerships, Leadership and Workforce Strengthening
Exploring strategies to strengthen the midwifery workforce, leadership, professional development and partnerships.
2. Quality Maternal and Newborn Health
Sharing evidence and practical approaches for improving the quality, safety, accessibility and continuity of maternal and newborn care.
3. Midwifery Education, Research and Innovation
Showcasing research, innovations and approaches that can strengthen midwifery education, practice and policy.
4. Family Planning, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Adolescent Health
Examining the role of midwives in delivering integrated, accessible and adolescent-responsive sexual and reproductive health services.
5. Community Engagement and Primary Health Care
Exploring how midwives can strengthen community engagement, primary healthcare and links between communities and health facilities.
6. Climate Change and Maternal Health
Examining the impact of climate change on maternal and newborn health and identifying approaches for resilient health systems and communities.
